FILM

Revisiting Malcolm X

In honor of Black History Month, I will be reviewing one of my favorite films of all time: Spike Lee’s “Malcolm X.”

Fill The Void (Rama Burshtein)

Fill the Void explores the conflict between familial duties and personal desires in a deeply religious Hasidic neighborhood.

TELEVISION

Netflix’s “Emily in Paris” is full of stereotypes, but provides needed escape.

Although the show is filled with over-the-top cliches about Parisian life, perhaps a bit of escapism is exactly what we need.

Netflix’s “Cursed” (Season 1 Review)

Given the lack of female lead roles in fantasy and action productions, Netflix has decided to put a feminist spin on its ten-episode fantasy/adventure show, Cursed, based on the young adult graphic novel by Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler.

MUSIC

Black Eyed Peas: Translation (Album Review)

Translation feels like a love letter to Latin music as the group experiments with several Latin genres including reggaetón, dembow, moombahton and Latin trap.

Pentatonix: At Home (EP Review)

The five-member a capella group deliver an impressive quarantine-themed EP that encapsulates the highs and lows of life under lockdown.
